GECO was founded in 1994 and has been active on campus since that time.

Why GECO?
The environmental studies major at Gettysburg College is relatively new. It started as a minor and then with the help of faculty and students it worked its way up to becoming a major. Around this time GECO was founded as a way for students interested in the environment, sustainability, and making the campus more eco-friendly to band together. Since GECO began we have participated in amazing things, such as volunteering trips, the March for Science, camping, hiking, kayaking, reducing waste on campus, and so much more. GECO is always looking for input and new programs that we can participate in!
